Wounded and taken Prisoner of War on 21st March 1918 Somme near Cambrai during the Battle of St Quentin, part of the German counter-offensive Operation Michael. Taken to Limburg then Giessen POW Camp, nr. Frankfurt. Died of Wounds in No.9 Central Hospital, Frankfurt whilst POW. Originally buried in Frankfurt/Main Cemetery, moved to NIEDERZWEHREN CEMETERY, KASSEL.
